Hidden in the beautiful Clyde Valley in Scotland is a very special place where rescued animals are finally allowed to simply be.

Tribe Animal Sanctuary Scotland was created by John and Morag — long-time animal advocates who wanted to build a different kind of relationship between humans and animals. A relationship based not on ownership or use, but on compassion, respect, and connection.

The sanctuary gives lifelong homes to animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and slaughter. Many of the residents were once considered “farm animals” — animals society often overlooks emotionally — but at Tribe, every single life matters.

Here, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, dogs, cats, and other rescued animals are given the chance to live peacefully, safely, and with dignity. Each animal has their own personality, story, friendships, and little quirks — and that’s exactly what the sanctuary hopes people will see.

One of the things that makes Tribe Animal Sanctuary Scotland so beautiful is that it doesn’t feel like a “project.” It feels like home.

Visitors are invited to meet the animals and experience them as individuals rather than labels. Some residents are playful and curious, some shy and gentle, and some — like the older Highland cows — prefer to completely ignore visitors altogether 😄🐮

The sanctuary is also deeply connected to the vegan community and works to encourage more compassionate living through education, social media, sanctuary visits, and everyday conversations about how we see animals.

Running a sanctuary like this is a huge undertaking. Food, bedding, fencing, land maintenance, and veterinary bills quickly add up, and Tribe relies heavily on donations and community support. The sanctuary is part of the Tribe Tattoo family, with profits from their tattoo studios helping fund the care of the animals.

Places like Tribe Animal Sanctuary Scotland remind us that animals are not so different from us after all. They want safety. Friendship. Freedom. Comfort. And the chance to live their lives in peace.

If you’d like to support their work, visit their website, donate, sponsor an animal, or simply help spread their message of compassion 🐾
