Today I bought a cucumber.
Halfway through slicing it, I caught myself thinking, “I should save the end piece for Petunia.” Then I remembered.
For a moment I just stood there in the kitchen holding a slice of cucumber and missing a guinea pig. Which sounds ridiculous until you’ve loved one.
You were never going to climb mountains or change the world. You were a tiny furry creature who got excited about vegetables and hid under blankets.
And yet somehow, you changed mine.
