Daisy joined us around 2009. Eric went out to deal with the trash at our condo at the time and Daisy was running around loose by the trash. Eric, being Eric, picked her up and brought her back to the condo and knocked on the door and asked me to come outside and said, “Could he bring her in?” I said, “Of course.” Our little dog Simon at the time was a miniature pincher; he didn’t like other dogs but he did like Daisy. I don’t know what her name was at the time but being intuitive she told me her name was Daisy and she answered to it right away. She also took Simon’s toys from him right away and he let her; he understood from day one that life had changed.

She had lots of nicknames: Miss Daisy, of course, but also Secret Agent Little Minx because she was tiny but she was a force. I heard a kerfuffle one day and she had gotten out, as she did fairly regularly, and she was facing down a pitbull who killed a chihuahua a week later but she went nose-to-nose with him and backed him off. She was funny, she was mischievous. We used to joke that she would go out at night and topple governments in the Middle East and stuff like that. She was just so intrepid and so full of life and she was Eric’s first dog, his little girl, and the sun days go by. I don’t miss her; she’s really spectacular.

She passed on September 26th, 2025. She was with us, in Eric’s lap as she passed.
